Tremblet Beach Hike

Tremblet Beach Overview:

Tremblet Beach is considered the youngest beach in the world. In fact, it was created in 2007 following an eruption of Piton de la Fournaise. It is a very rare beach since it is composed of olivine (a mineral that crystallizes as lava cools), which gives the beach a green/yellow color. During the rainy season, you can even discover a waterfall that flows directly onto the beach—a guaranteed spectacle!

The itinerary to discover Tremblet Beach:

You need to drive to Tremblet via the east of the island; head towards Sainte-Rose, then pass the Route des Laves. You then need to take a small road on the left to reach the parking lot. Below is the map showing the parking lot, which will be the starting point for your hike.

Park in the small parking lot; then a sign will indicate Tremblet Beach 15 minutes. The trail starts here with a few steps, then you will pass a kiosk on your right; continue descending until you reach the cooled lava flows. You will start to see Tremblet Beach; keep going straight, walking on the lava, and you will soon discover this superb olivine beach.

The return to the parking lot is via the same trail.
